The Summer: Perfect for Reading

reading in summer

While the summer holidays are coming to an end, the sun has finally stated here to stay!

These holidays are the perfect time for children and teenagers to get reading.

Parents across the country will have already heard the cry of “I’m so bored” and want to tear their hair out in frustration.

Nothing can maintain a child’s attention like a book, especially if it’s their first attempt at reading a novel. Before they know it they’ve been reading for most of the day without a thought for anything else.

The sun can be blistering hot or it can be tipping down with rain but either way a book can be read and enjoyed. Lying in the sun with a book can be one of the most relaxing activities a teenager will undertake in the remaining months of this summer or they can curl up in bed with a book to hide from the rain and still gain as much pleasure.

Books are a cheap way of entertaining children and they also keep their minds stimulated in the break between school terms.

How brilliant would it be for a child to return to school in September and tell all of their friends about the amazing books they read in the holidays?

It’s often the case that their friends go on holiday and children have to find a way to entertain themselves for a week or so on their own and a book can easily solve this problem.

They can have exciting adventures and discover funny characters all without leaving their home. Now is the perfect time to get the nation’s children reading.

Even if there are only a few more days of the summer left!
