Perfection is an illusion: Pride magazine, the Reading Agency and another Verge collaboration
Well, hello there!
How has your week been?
The last few weeks were just a blur to me as so much has happened….and now I would like to share some of that with you:
Firstly, I was interviewed by a Reading Activist at Thorton Heath library in association with the Reading Agency and this has now gone live!!
Here’s the video link if you want a little look see:

Thank you so much to Nathan for interviewing me and soon this video will also be going up on the Reading Agency website together with an article from Nathan talking about his experience of meeting me. So, I look forward to sharing his words with you as I always love when I have influenced young people and their future dreams. So, more on this soon!
Even more, my team is in discussion with other libraries such as Ealing, Croydon and Hounslow in relation to my upcoming summer tour and the Reading Agency is also happy to spread the word! So watch this space….
Then, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Pride Magazine who wanted to talk to me about perfection. Innovera Yakov might be an extremely beautiful world but is also imperfect as it is constantly trying to self-destruct and ruins the life of its inhabitants, who might have supernatural powers but also have human problems.
From a very young age, I always aspired to be perfect and if I did not achieve my best, I beat myself up for it. I am sure that many of us feel like this at some point in our lives and I want to let you know that there is a better way of living. Success is great but it is never perfect itself and can sometimes occur when you least expect it. I might have learnt this the hard way but Innovera Yakov was my salvation as I told Pride magazine:
“For me, Innovera Yakov was a form of escapism, a way to create my own world. It was always my escape away from all this anxiety about growing up and self-acceptance. In Innovera Yakov, material things don’t matter- people survive off the bare minimum and they appreciate life in its entirety.”
And finally, after all these months of talking about how fans love the book, my team and I were lucky enough to persuade some to record some short snippets of how they loved the book. And so here they are, thanks to Verge Magazine:

And wait…what did you just say?
Where are the pictures from the Whiteheath Junior School visit?
They will be up soon…patience my dear!
